Definition
Some public mutations are reached over a CC1-HMAC-signed hop: the calling site signs the request with a per-host shared secret so the hub can attribute it, even though the public endpoint itself needs no user auth. It is the same HMAC family used to verify webhooks, applied in the outbound direction.

A signature on inter-site requests that proves which trusted site sent them.
Why it matters here
