Definition

An MCP tool is a callable unit exposed by an MCP server: it has a name, a description, and an inputSchema the agent uses to build valid arguments. The agent lists tools with tools/list and invokes one with tools/call.

In plain terms

One of the specific things an agent can ask the server to do.

Why it matters here

Credicorp's public tools are read-only and return authoritative figures — see the catalogue and, for example, get_quote.
